Plus one-tap favourites, real reviews from other users on every seller profile, and CarFax reports attached right on the ad page.

Each ad has 1 main photo, shown first everywhere your car appears, plus up to 20 additional photos — 21 in total.

JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP and SVG files are accepted. You can replace or reorder the photos at any time by editing the ad from My Car Ads.

The free tier includes 3 car ads per calendar month.

If you post more than that, the extra ads are safely parked as drafts — they publish automatically the moment you upgrade to a paid plan.

Click Sell Your Car in the menu, or go straight to the ad wizard. It walks you through four quick steps — car details, photos, additional information and an optional CarFax report — and your ad goes live at the end.

Featuring puts your car in the Featured Cars carousel on the homepage and on the Featured Cars page, adds a “Featured” badge to your listing, and keeps the ad online for the whole featured window — even past its normal expiry date.

It is a one-time payment of $29.99 CAD for 14 days of extra visibility — no auto-renewal.

Absolutely. Compare our plans: Premium (20 ads per month), Premium Plus (50 ads per month), or Premium Custom — a tailored plan where we agree the monthly ad volume and fee with you directly.

Depending on the tier selected, we can also upload your dealership logo so it appears on your listing cards, in the featured section and on every one of your ad pages.

Every ad stays published for 30 days. After that it is automatically moved to your drafts (we email you when it happens), and you can republish it any time for a fresh 30-day run.

A draft left untouched for another 30 days is permanently deleted, along with its photos and reports. Tip: an active Featured window keeps your ad online until the window ends.

Yes — for dealerships and high-volume sellers we offer a bulk import service for a fee: you hand us your inventory as a spreadsheet plus photos, and our team imports the whole lot for you. Contact us to get started.

Yes — to transfer ownership and put plates on a used vehicle in Ontario the buyer needs a valid Safety Standards Certificate (SSC), issued by a licensed Motor Vehicle Inspection Station after a safety inspection; it is valid for 36 days. You can sell a car without one as "unfit", but the buyer cannot register it for the road until a certificate is obtained.

Tip: sellers who list "certified" in the ad and attach the certificate at the sale close faster. SmartMotors.ca does not issue or verify certificates.

The UVIP is the Ontario government document the seller must give the buyer in a private sale. It shows the vehicle description, registration history, lien information and the retail sales tax that will be charged on transfer. Sellers buy it from ServiceOntario (online or in person); the bill of sale is completed inside the package.

Yes. The buyer pays 13% retail sales tax (RST) to ServiceOntario when the vehicle is registered, calculated on the higher of the purchase price or the Canadian Red Book wholesale value. Dealership sales charge 13% HST at the point of sale instead. Prices on SmartMotors.ca ads are shown before tax.

Look for the CarFax Canada report on the ad — sellers can attach it directly, and the button appears on the listing page when they have. It shows accident claims, registration history and lien status. If an ad has no report, ask the seller for the VIN and order one yourself, and check the UVIP for liens before paying.

Switch your renewal from automatic to manual on My Membership (the Billing & renewal toggle). Nothing more is charged: your plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, then ends. You can switch back to auto-renew at any time before that date.

A membership that is already on manual renewal simply ends on its paid-until date unless you renew it. Fees already paid are not refunded.

Yes. Once the car-ad allowance of your current plan is used up (or after your plan ends), the lower tier shows a Switch & renew button on the plans page.

The new plan is charged at its full price right away. There is no credit or proration for unused time or unused car ads on the plan you leave, and your monthly allowance restarts from the new plan’s limit on the day you switch.

Buyers contact sellers by phone, so every account needs one Canadian mobile number. We verify it once, by texting you a code when you register — that keeps fake accounts and fake listings off SmartMotors.ca.

Your number appears only on the car ads you publish (you can give a different number on an ad), never on your public profile. You can change it any time from your account.
